My wife was thrilled with this when we recently got it. Today, I heard a loud crash in the kitchen and ran in to see glass all over the floor. She had placed the glass top of this pot on the stove, then bumped it with her elbow or wrist while reaching around.

Apparently it landed on the top metal handle which acted as a perfect center target to totally destroy all the glass in the top!

I'll have to start looking for both a replacement glass top now, and a solid stainless steel one that will fit exactly this pot, in case she breaks it again. I do think it's pretty cheezy and sloppy of Calphalon to not use a bullet proof or unbreakable glass for their top. I wonder if I could send this back and get it replaced with another one??

Other than the easy destructibility of the top, the pot itself is high quality and very pretty.

This stockpot is the perfect size for a double batch of tomato sauce, a couple of chickens, or soup. The 6 quart is too small and the 16 quart is too big. The finish is great and the glass lid allows you to see your product without having to remove the lid and release the heat. This is the product that I would expect of Calphalon.
